I guess NHL is "close" to starting...or maybe I just can't wait, but here are some news that got me all excited about my mighty Nucks...well according to HockeyBuzz, the rumour for trades that are in the works for Nucks who so desperately need to address the scoring depth, since after Sedins, and Naslund who did not live up to his usual game last year, it dries up quickly so the rumors in trades are: Hossa, (which I cant see since Atlanta announced that he would be a priority to sign), Elias (which would be awesome, although Ohlund is part of that trade, and in my mind has always shown great dependability in the back end, but with the depth of D that Canucks have, Elias would be worth it big time.), and the third not trade mind you but unrestricted free agent is Forsberg. Although two not so great rumors are that Lindros and Allison are also being considered by the Canucks, which in my mind seems like an experiment waiting to fail...anyways time will tell.

Another news is that the Canucks are going to change the look and style of their logo and jerseys which to me seems this too much NHL thinking for August, I don't know...

Also with the scoring punch that Nucks are in need of I personally think that Morozov would be a steal from Russian Super league who had a great article about him at Russian Hockey Digest, he has really come into his own since being picked 24th over all in 95, he has been given a chance to play more and develop in Russia, and "During the IIHF European Championship Cup (ECC) in January 2007, Morozov earned the titles of best forward and MVP as he led Ak-Bars to the championship, reaffirming Russian dominance at the tournament. When the regular season ended, Morozov lead the league and established new Super League record in points (83) as Ak-Bars Kazan had a league leading 119 points and well on the way to an unprecedented second straight championship. He became the first player in the history of the RSL to top the eighty points in a season and his 83 points broke the old record of 79 held by Sergei Makarov. "(source)

He also lead all scoring in World Championships, scoring 8 goals and 5 assists in 7 games, and has been argued that is now the best player outside of NHL, rumors are that he is in negotiations with few NHL teams, but being only 30 I think he would be a great gamble, even before the last two years of developing in Russia his last season with Pittsburgh he recorded 50 points in 75 games, 16g and 34 assists, not great but not bad either. Since then he has been given more playing time and time to develop and broaden his skills and opportunities to play big minutes in club and national jersey to which he has not disappointed. I really would like Canucks to take a gamble on this guy seeing how many of the desired UFA's are now gone. Would also be the needed creative player to play along with Naslund, since Bulis and Smolinski were both a bust...for that matter Morrison has not shown anything since representing Canada in Olympics 2002...well here's hoping!
