Just a quick what is up...

Jessica the boys and I have just returned from the Regent College retreat. It was a great time to get away take some spectacular hikes through one of many Washington State mountains, meet some of Jessica's class mates, recognize and chat with old classmates from Briercrest, and listen to lectures, participate in the songs, and enjoy nature, it was all so fantastic. I have been really liking what I see in Regent over all, the diversity of Christian thought and practice is fascinating.

We are slowly finding rhythm to our life and some what of a schedule. I am probably going to take a class next semester, which I am very excited about. Biking, hiking, and drinking coffee are also becoming big loves of mine, and so that is very fun.

Here are some pics of the mountain hike which led us to the top of the mountain on which was a bowl with a lake in it:

This is happening already?

Having just picked up Sasha from his full day of school on Monday, I ask:"How was school?"
Sasha: "Fine"
me: "So what did you do in school?"
Sasha: "Nothing"
me (pause for a bit to think how to get this guy to talk): " Well did you have fun?"
Sasha: "Yeah"
me: "Great so what did you do?"
Sasha: "I don't know"
me: " What do you mean you don't know?"
Sasha: "I don't know"
me: "Well I missed you" (fishing for something)
Sasha: "I know"

Wow I can't believe its already starting, to find out how school was and what he did and whats going on in his life is becoming like pulling teeth. Good thing I am persistent.

Talking to Noah...

So Noah comes up to me with the above catalogue, points at the cover and says in a very serious and concerned voice: "This is not your school daddy, it is not Sasha's school and it is not my school. It is mommy's school. And it Blew up!" pointing at the lit up area on the bottom left of the catalogue. I am still laughing.

In Christ Alone...

In Christ Alone (click on the title to hear it)

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Update...

This past Sunday we attended Urban Journey which was pretty sweet experience for church, where we ate supper together, sang songs, prayed and listened to people share about their year and about hopes for the new year. It was really cool and Jessica and I have been really enjoying connecting with the pastor couple Andrew and Rebecca Stanley, who have been pretty cool people to get to know, even though he cheers for Liverpool. (Just proof that we live in a fallen world I guess)

Jessica has began her orientation at school which was really cool I took some
in with her, they provided child care which made it much more enjoyable to see the school get to know some of the faculty and meet some people. Made me really want to attend but all in good time. The boys and I have been spending a lot of time together and that I must say is challenging but also is the best thing that I have done in a long time, and I have done some sweet things.

I have been preparing some meals just to prove that I am fully engaged with this new at home thing. Which really shouldn't be a big deal other then I am useless in the kitchen, so its kind of cool to learn and dare I say I even kind of like cooking... here is a photo of today's meal:

Canucks prospects camp...

Just a quick update, as life is slowly becoming more real here in Vancouver one neat thing about living in an NHL market where people are completely obsessed with hockey, is the fact that you can go for free to The University arena and for free watch the prospects practice and go through drills. As I was sitting there I looked behind me and sure enough all the Canuck scouts were sitting there with Mike Gillis the Canucks GM with coaching staff, just watching, some directly behind me. It was neat experience the little arena was packed and it was sweet to have such a close connection to the NHL team. Next week main camp is practicing there as well and its free again! How cool is that!!!

Well and Noah enjoyed throwing plastic balls at the water fall thingy ( i believe that is its scientific name) and playing on the slides:

Bure, Bure...

Living in the city of my favorite hockey team and recently chatting with some friends about some hockey rivalries reminded me of my all time favorite player, here is his top 10 goals and a small 3 minute clip part of a documentary about this player:
